Ordering Contact Lenses Online - Frequently Asked Questions

Your prescription

In Australia and New Zealand, the law dictates that you need a valid contact lens prescription to purchase contact lenses. A contact lens prescription differs from a spectacle prescription because more information is required to ensure good ocular health. The information includes brand, size (curvature and diameter) and power. Your contact lens prescription is valid for 2 years. When you’re about to confirm your order, there will be a box you’ll need to tick to confirm that you have a valid prescription.

How do I find my contact lens prescription?

There are two ways you can find your contact lens prescription:
1. From a script that your Optometrist has provided you
2. From the box of your current contact lenses

Contact lens prescriptions can be a little confusing to read. Below are the terms that you may come across and how they match to our ordering page. Not all fields will be required for your prescription.

CYL CYL (select for each eye)
AXIS or X Axis (select for each eye, this will be a number between 5 - 180)
BC Base Curve (select for each eye)
DIA Diameter - no selection required, this is fixed for your contact lens

How often should contact lens wearers get their eyes examined?

Although your contact lens prescription is valid for 2 years, eContactLenses.com.au strongly recommends yearly check ups to ensure good ocular health and longevity of wear of your contact lenses. Although your prescription may not change, it’s always a good idea to make sure your eyes are healthy. Remember, if your eyes ever get sore, red or just don’t feel right, remove your contact lenses and see your optometrist as soon as you can.

Which contact lenses should I choose?

In order to choose the best contact lenses, it is essential to consider factors such as your lifestyle, visual needs, optometrist’s recommendation and your personal commitment to wearing and cleaning them. You can choose between daily lenses, fortnightly and monthly lenses, extended wear lenses, astigmatism, multifocal and coloured contact lenses. Read more...

How can I reduce the risk of contact lens related problems?

Good compliance of contact lens care is crucial for trouble-free contact lens wear. The correct use of the contact lens solution that was prescribed by your optometrist (replacing the solution after each wear and rubbing your contact lenses with solution before storage) and replacing your contact lens storage case every 3 months will reduce the risk of complications.

Counterfeit Contact Lenses

At eContactLenses.com.au we guarantee the contact lenses ordered through us are the genuine article. When you’re putting something in your eye for 10-14 hours, you want to make sure it’s the real deal. Don’t risk your eye health on potential counterfeit lenses.

How do you sell contact lenses at such low prices?

At eContactLenses.com.au, we can distribute some of the cheapest contact lenses in Australia due to our ability to buy direct from the manufactures and sell these heavily discounted products in our online store, passing the saving on to our customers. Read more...

Can I claim my contact lenses on my health fund?
